The following is a brief description of a TEDx IDEA that I am working on. I would love to know what you think. I would like to leave the audience inspired to realize they have a purpose and to live on purpose every day.

Healthy aging's secret ingredient is purpose.

Having a sense of purpose is a powerful predictor of mental and physical robustness—by some measures, as powerful as education, wealth, genes, exercise, or social network. Yet, our culture often dismisses the value of aging.  Many over 50 don't have purpose and are invisible, and lack expression in a society focused on youth. More than reframing, I’ll give the audience an inspiring daily ritual that helps us dispel myths of purpose, that turns on a light switch, that shows that just saying our purpose makes it so, that our purpose is woven into our experience of life and that is what makes purpose valuable...our experience of life.  If you have an experience of life, you have a purpose.

Ever more people today have the means to live, but no meaning to live for. —Victor Frankl

Compared with people who feel little purpose in life, those who report a strong sense of purpose are far less likely to die over a given period; they are also far less likely to suffer a stroke or a heart attack, and are less susceptible to viruses and conditions such as diabetes, metastatic cancer, and neurodegenerative disease.

A sense of purpose in life may also stave off the greatest terror of every seasoned adult I know: Alzheimer’s disease
